
Harold Hodgin
HODGIN, HAROLD - 1917- 2012 - With sadness we announce the passing of Harold Hodgin on March 13, 2012 at the Veterans Health Center in Moncton, NB. Born August 8th, 1917, in Bloomfield, NB he was the second eldest son of Agnes (Adair) Hodgin, (1980) and Frank Hodgin (1988). A WW II veteran, Harold served with the RCA as a Sergeant in the Transportation Department from 1942 – 1946. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #31 in Salisbury for 56 years; employed by the Department of National Defense # 5 Supply Depot Moncton for 30 years and a member of Holy Family Parish. Dad was a strong independent person, with a strong religious faith and good beliefs. He was a great Dad and a wonderful role model that instilled high moral values and strong work ethics in his children. Some of his many interests were hunting, fishing, lawn bowling, alley bowling, carpentry, gardening and playing cards with his family. He was an all-round helpful person to anyone who knew him and he dearly loved children. Harold was predeceased by his beloved wife Emily (MacEachern) Hodgin in 2008. He is survived by one son Donald (Karen) of Riverview, NB, and their children Staceyand Tanya. Four daughters Carolyn (Orville Mazerolle) of Moncton, NB, their children Angela and Craig; Donna (Eldon Mazerolle) of Dieppe, NB, their children Darlene and Cindy; Beverly (Gerald Parlee) of Riverview, NB, their children Loretta, Lo-Ann and Lori-Jo; and Diane (Jim Dunn) of Salisbury, NB, their children Shelly and Brandy; as well as eleven grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren and one great great grand-daughter. He is survived by his sisters: Genevieve (Patrick Anglin 1995) of Saint John; Muriel (Alyre Richard) of Loch Lomand, Barbara (Edwin Sands) of Hampton, Carolyn (Robert Gilchrist) of Norton and one brother Kenneth Hodgin of Bloomfield Ridge, NB. Besides his parents he was predeceased by sisters: Marion Donnelly 1965 (late Hubert 2007), Pauline Mercer 2005 (late Heber 1974), Mildred Cormier 2011 (late Hector 1996), Madeline Mercer 2011 (Gordon) and brothers: Murray Hodgin 1985 (late Edna 1987) and Bernard Hodgin 2002 (late Josephine/Dodie 2011).
Visitation will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Thursday, March, 15th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion, Salisbury Branch #31 will also conduct a service at 7:00 pm. The funeral will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home, on Friday March 16th, 2012 at 1:00 pm with Father Phil Mulligan officiating.
