It is with deep sadness that we the family announce the passing of Leonard George Boudreau on March 14, 2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, Leonard was the son of the late Sylvain and Helen (Hollis) Boudreau.
Leonard was a very kind, gentle and loving father and grandfather. He loved spending time in Bonavista, N.L., and at St. Ann’s campground with family and friends playing his guitar and singing. He was an avid dart player and member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 12 and the Sergeants Mess Victoria Park.
Leonard was employed in the maintenance department at the Sydney City Hospital until he retired in 1988.
Surviving are his daughters, Betty Boudreau, Sydney, Kaye (Bill) Taylor, East Bay, and Grace (Daniel ‘Brother’) Luther, Sydney River; son, Fred (Charlotte), Hamilton, Ont.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and special friends, Robbie and Bill Parker and their families in Ottawa, Ont.
Leonard was predeceased by his wife, Rebecca ‘Minnie’ (Abbott) and brother, Eugene.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Saturday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Sunday, 1 p.m., with Rev. Stephen Mills officiating.
Leonard will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
