ZANNI On May 2, 2007, Mr. Peter Louis Zanni of Kamloops passed away peacefully at the age of 86 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Annette (Mike) Sabatino and his two grandchildren Greg and Jennifer Sabatino. He also leaves to cherish his memory, his sister Mary (Gerry) Egger and family, his brother-in-law George Hildebrand and family, his sister-in-law Tina (John) Semenoff and family, brother-in-law Bill Jansen and family, and many other family and friends. Peter was predeceased by his parents Giovanni and Emelia Zanni, his devoted wife Mary in 1998, his sister Nellie Hildebrand, his in-laws Anna and Paolo Ceci, his brother-in-law Lawrence Ceci and his sister-in-law Louise Jansen. Peter was born on March 9, 1921 in Falmenta a small town in Northern Italy. When Peter was a young child the family immigrated to Alberta, and Peter's father worked as a Section foreman for the C.P.R. As a young man Peter trained to be a Boiler-Maker for the C.P.R. working in Calgary and Kamloops. He enlisted with the Army in 1942 and served his country overseas in England, Belgium and the Netherlands. The demise of the steam engines forced Peter to find a new career and in 1956 he began work at the Kamloops Post Office. He retired on March 10, 1981 after 25 years of service. He enjoyed his retirement years fishing many lakes in the Kamloops area, and spending time with his grandchildren and family. Peter was a longtime member and Past-President of the Cristoforo Colombo Lodge in Kamloops. He was honored with a Lifetime membership from the Lodge for his many years of service. The family wishes to thank Dr. Alex Leung for his compassionate care over the years. Special thanks to the staff on 5 North at Royal Inland Hospital, and the caring staff at Ponderosa Lodge. Prayers will be recited on Monday, May 7, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 255 Nicola Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral on Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Evergreen Mausoleum. Should friends desire donations to the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation, 311 Columbia Street, Kamloops, B.C. V2C 2T1 in memory of Peter would be appreciated.
