HATT, CLYDE NELSON - At the Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing, Saint John NB, on March 16, 2012, Mr. Clyde Nelson Hatt, husband of Mrs. F. Olive Hatt of L’Etang NB. Born at L’Etang NB on November 10, 1925, he was a son of the late Artemus and Margaret (Danbury) Hatt. A loving husband, father and brother, in addition to his wife, Olive, he is survived by three sons; Barry (Louise) Hatt of Fredericton NB, Geoffrey (Eileen) Hatt of L’Etang NB and Braden Hatt of St. George NB, ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two sisters; Carrie Ring of Plainville CT and Dorothy Anderson of L’Etang NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Clyde was predeceased by one son, Clynel and by ten siblings. Prior to his retirement, Clyde worked many jobs in Charlotte County including Woodsman, Truck Driver and he was also employed by Connors Brothers. He also tended Weir for many years with his brother and several other weirman. He was a Veteran having joined the Canadian Merchant Navy at the age of 17 and then joined the Army in 1944 until his discharge in 1946. While with the Merchant Navy he trained as a Gunner and sailed to such destinations as Jamaica, India and Sri Lanka as well as many other Atlantic missions. Clyde was an avid Baseball fan and coached the Back Bay Braves of the Border League for many years. He was a member of the Canadian Navy Veterans Asssociation as well as a member of the St. Marks Anglican Church, St. George NB.
Resting at St. Marks Anglican Church, St. George NB from where the service will be held on Monday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Mary Ann Langmaid officiating. Visiting at the church will take place on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. In Clyde’s memory, donations to St. Marks Anglican Chruch or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
