It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Jemima ‘Jim’ Hutchison, on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
Born in Lake Ainslie on October 4, 1925, Jemima was the daughter of the late Thomas and Euphemia (MacLean) Quigley. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who dedicated her life to taking care of her family.
Jemima loved having a good time fishing and going to the Casino. She was at one time fluent in the Gaelic language and loved Scottish music.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Mary Ryan, Patricia (Wayne) McKay, Leo (Wilma) Hutchison, all of New Waterford, Fran (Tommie) Bonnar, Scotchtown; her sister, Linda (Gary) Lynds, Beaverbank, NS; and her brother, Tom (Mary) Quigley, Great Village, NS; her grandchildren, Christopher, Craig, Owen, Garrott, Tiffany, Keegan, and Janelle and two step great-granddaughters, Carleigh and Kendall. She is also survived by the best friend any family ever had, Francis Petrie.
Besides her parents, Jemima was predeceased by her husband Leo; son, Joe; sister, Jessie, and two brothers, John William and William ‘Ace’ Ainslie; son-in-law Art Ryan.
By request of the family, there will no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of Saint Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, New Waterford, with Fr. Paul MacNeil officiating. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at St. Agnes Hall on Convent St. New Waterford.
