It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of a special friend, Marjorie (MacNabb) Gammon, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Monday, Dec. 7, 2009.
Born in New Glasgow, she was the daughter of the late A.W (Bert) and Elsie D. (Elliot) MacNabb.
Marjorie started her career as an X-ray technologist in New Brunswick and after her marriage to William Gammon, the family moved west to become motel owners in Banff, Alta., and Salmon Arm, B.C. After her husband’s passing, Marjorie worked in a bookstore in Calgary. From there she returned to Nova Scotia and made her home in Cape Breton for the past 20 years.
Marjorie was a nature enthusiast and an animal lover. She took pleasure in looking at the scenic surroundings and wildlife on her property. She will be missed by her cat Snuggles and her dog Bently.
Surviving is daughter, Elsel Healy, Calgary, Alta.; and son, Spurgeon, Nanoose Bay, B.C.; and four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Marjorie was predeceased by her husband, Bill Gammon, sister, Dorothy and brother, Foster.
Marjorie was a friend to everyone she met and could find no fault with anyone. She will be missed terribly by her dear friend, Betty Musial, with whom she resided.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, Dec. 12, 7 p.m. at S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home chapel at 564 Alexandra St. with Pastor Sheldon Chant officiating with reception to follow. Interment to take place at a later date.
May God be good to her — she was a beautiful person.
