Joseph Banford Rushton

Rushton, Joseph Banford, 82, Debert, passed away peacefully, Friday, March 16, 2012 at home. Born in Lower Debert, he was a son of the late Burton and Kathleen (Selwah) Rushton. Joe was a janitor at the Masstown School for several years until his retirement. He was a member of the North Star Masonic
Lodge No. 74, Londonderry.
He is survived by sons, David (Shawn) of Belmont, Timothy of Halifax; daughters, Patricia “Patti” Rushton of Alberta, Ann Barley of Debert; brothers Victor Rushton and Roy (Myrtle) Rushton both of Lower Debert; sister Shirley Soley (Paul) of Economy; grandchildren, Aaron, Joyce, Julie, Jeremy, Travis, Laura; 10 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Mrs. Rhoda Rushton of Lower Debert.
He was predeceased by his wife the former Joyce (Arnburg) Rushton; brother Harold; sister Joyce.
No visitation by family request. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 22nd, at 2 pm in the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, with Rev. Donald MacQueen officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Folly Village Cemetery, Glenholme. Family flowers only. Donations in Joe’s memory may be made to the Hospice Society, Truro or a charity of choice.
