With great sadness we share the loss of our mom, Chris MacDonald on Monday, March 19, 2012, at the Northside Community Guest Home. She passed away peacefully in the arms of her daughters at the wonderful age of 90.
Chris was born on Feb. 10, 1922, the youngest child of Kenneth and Margaret (MacIntosh) MacLeod.
Chris was predeceased by her devoted husband, Reginald in 1997, after 49 years of marriage. They enjoyed so many times together with family and friends at their home in Sydney Mines and summer place in Indian Brook. How they loved to dance, bowl, play cards and entertain together. Chris was a past member of the D.W. Archibald I.O.D.E. and the Harbourview Hospital Auxiliary and shared her beautiful singing voice and love of music with several choirs.
Chris deeply loved her girls, Corinne (John) Schmid, Sydney and Glenda (Daniel) McKeough, North Sydney. Nana Chris will be missed by her grandchildren, Kara (Peter) Campbell, Amy LeMoine (Daniel), Meaghan LeMoine, Chris (Charlotte) Brown, Caelin Brown and Jocelyn McKeough, as well as four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Grace Brown; brother-in-law, Earl MacDonald, many nieces and nephews and her chosen sister of the heart, Effie MacDonald.
Chris was predeceased by brother, Donald; sister, Sadie and sister-in-law, Vimy Love.
The family will be forever grateful to the staff at Alderwood Guest Home, especially Loch Breagh for their care and affection given to Chris for over two years. Words can never express the appreciation for the support and love given, especially by the Teresa Terrace staff of the Northside Guest Home these past months.
There will be no visitation. A celebration of Chris’ life will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at St. Matthew Wesley United Church with Rev. David Luker officiating.
