It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, Rean John Evans, on Monday, March 19, 2012 in Ft. McMurray.
Born in South Porcupine, Ont., he was the son of Rean and Dorothy (Bradbury) Evans, and has been a resident of North Sydney for many years.
Rean worked as a loyal and dedicated heavy equipment operator for the Shell Albian Sands Mining project in Ft. McMurray for the past seven years, and prior to that, he spent 25 years as a mechanic.
Rean was passionate about soccer, which he avidly played for many years. He loved playing darts, and cheering for his Toronto teams. He enjoyed working with his hands and took great pride in the renovation projects he completed around his home.
Rean was very proud of his family and devoted his life to caring for and providing for them.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 28 years, Georgina (Forrest); his parents, Rean and Joan Evans of Lower Sackville; by his precious daughters, Terrilynn (Chris) and Kimberly Evans; brother, John Evans (Lynda), Ontario; sister, Marylyn (Craig) Andrews of Halifax; father-in-law, George ‘Brother’ Forrest, North Sydney and many nieces and nephews. Also left to mourn are his “angels,” his grandchildren, Chloe and Ben MacIntosh, who will always remember their grandfather’s playful demeanor and the love and affection he showered them with. “A wiggle wiggle wee” Poppy! From Chloe; also his best friend and confidant, Howie Seale; as well as his Ft. McMurray family.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7–9 p.m. Sunday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church, North Sydney, with Rev. John Hannem officiating. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
