Florence Marie Greene - 74, of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at the Palliative Care Unit in Charlottetown. Born in Elmfield, Pictou County, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late John and Katherine Stewart. Florence graduated from Stellarton High School and the Victoria General Hospital School of Nursing. Florence loved and valued the opportunity to be a nurse and participate in the care of patients and their families. Florence worked as an oncology nurse on a medical unit at the Victoria General Hospital for several years. As well, she cared for cancer patients at the Dickson Centre in Halifax. Florence was a life member of UBWMU. She was predeceased by her husband, Vernon Greene; an infant daughter; a brother, Sheldon Stewart as well as her parents, John and Katherine Stewart. She is survived by one daughter, Andrea (Garth) Slysz; one son, Alan (Elizabeth) Greene; four grandchildren, Joshua, Luke, Katherine, Kaitlan; one brother, Ralph Stewart. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville and there was no visitation. A memorial service, followed by a reception, was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012 in the Kentville United Baptist Church, Reverend Doctor John McNally officiating.
