It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Daisy Davidson, age 72, of Glace Bay. Daisy passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2012, at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, Daisy was the daughter of the late Gordon and Sadie (Morris) Oakes.
She was a former member of Chalmers United Church, Dominion.
Daisy was employed with General Instruments, Sydney, for a period of time. She also did cleaning at the University College of Cape Breton. She enjoyed playing darts with her friends.
Daisy will be sadly missed by her daughter, Linda Lockman (Wishie), Glace Bay; sons, Angus (Betty), Dominion, Darrell (Brenda), Glace Bay and Wally, at home; brothers, Jimmie (Joanne) Oakes, Gordon Oakes, both of Ontario; sisters, Mary Snooks, Gertie (Sonny) Mullins, Elzie (Bernie) Deveaux, all of Glace Bay; cherished grandchildren, April, Barbara, Brenda, John, Cory, Tracey, Devin, Aaron, Caelyn, Vanessa, Jennifer, Cherise, Amanda and Stephen; 15 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sister-in-law, Phemie Wiseman, Glace Bay and special friend, Joe Murphy, Dominion.
Besides her parents, Daisy was predeceased by her husband, Charles ‘Charlie,’ son-in-law, John Lockman, sister, Gloria (Bud) Dollard, brothers, Kenny, Gerald and brother-in-law, Henry Snooks.
In honouring Daisy’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, March 26, 2012, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Clayton Austin officiating. Interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery.
