
Muriel Gould
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Muriel Cavell Gould age 92, of Amherst announce her passing on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan, NS.
Born in Amherst on July 6, 1919 she was a daughter of the late William and Lillian Maude (Brown) Shea.
Muriel was an Avon representative for many years and very involved and active in the Bridge Workshop in Amherst.
She was a member of the Golden Years Society where she enjoyed playing cards and darts.
Mom’s hobbies involved knitting and crocheting, going for drives and spending time with her family and friends, and many summers were spent at the beach.
Muriel will be sadly missed by her daughters, Lenora “Lee” Matthews and Brenda (Allison) Landry both of Amherst and Cavell (Nick) Miles of Barrie, ON, 10 grandchildren Kelly, Jamie, Karen, Beverly, Patti, Michael, Christopher, Graham, Jennifer and Kelly, 20 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by one sister Elizabeth (Betty) Smith of Amherst and brother James D. (Laura) Shea of Dartmouth, sister in law Nellie Shea of Springhill.
Besides her parents, Muriel was predeceased by her husband Leslie, 3 sons Leslie Jr., Bruce and Keith and son in law Frank Matthews, granddaughter Kim Rose and brothers Jack, Bill, Doug and Ronald.
There will be no visitation.
Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 26, 2012 at 11 a.m. from Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Amherst with Father Vernon Driscoll officiating.
Interment will take place at a later date in the St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery, Amherst.
Family flowers only.
Memorial donations in Muriel’s memory may be made to the Bridge Workshop.
