Thomas (Tommy) MacLean
We, the family of the late Tommy MacLean wish to express our heartfelt thanks to all who made the last two weeks of his life so filled with caring, warmth and compassion. To our extended family and friends who spent so much time with us at the hospital and provided meals, comfort and prayers, we thank you. He was cared for and tended to by remarkable people at the An Cala unit; Dr. Ann Francis Dintino, C. Tobin, J. Ritter, G. Burns, and fantastic nurses, staff, volunteers and Father Paul MacGillivray for tending to his spiritual needs; thank you.
Words cannot express our gratitude to Dr. Greg Myatt for his expert care and dedication to Tommy over the years and the support given to our family in the final days. Special thanks to nurse Janice Black, Dr. Paul MacDonald and Dr. Thana. Through the assistance of the Palliative Care doctors, consult nurse Sharon Barron, VON nurses, especially Ann Marie, Karen and Gail, Tommy was able to remain in the comfort of his own home the past four years; for this we sincerely thank all of you. Thank you to Father Frank Abbass, our parish priest, who visited Tommy regularly at home, visited him in hospital and offered prayers, and for celebrating the funeral mass. To Father Dan MacInnis, co-celebrant, we thank you. To pallbearers, sons, Tommy and Blaise Francis, grandsons, Jason, Brett, Patrick MacLean and Dougal Curry; readers, granddaughters, Katie, Candice, Alana and Alyce; gift bearers, granddaughter Sarah and great-granddaughter Emily, thank you. Grampie would be very proud. To the ushers, altar servers and Sonny Murray for participation at the funeral mass, thank you.
For the beautiful music provided by soloist Pat Moore, Scottish tunes by Joe Peter MacLean, Paul Wukitsch, Janet Cameron and piper Janette Gillis, thank you.
To God child Chrissy Abbass for your “special favors” and passing out programs before mass, thank you. St. Mary’s CWL, thank you for hosting and providing a lovely lunch at our fire hall and the firemen for your hospitality for the funeral reception. And special thanks to our dear friends who cooked such a delicious supper the day of the funeral. To each of you that visited the funeral home, attended the funeral, sent flowers, mass cards, memorial and sympathy cards, email messages, phone calls, charitable donations, monetary donations, food sent to our homes, all who travelled to be with us and for the support of relatives, friends, neighbours and co-workers, you will forever be a part of our memories at our time of saying goodbye. To Bill Curry, Vince Gillis, Julie and the staff of T.W. Curry Parkview Funeral Home, your compassion and professionalism was greatly appreciated.
God Bless You All
