It is with sadness that the family of Dorothy R Linkletter announce her passing at her home in Sackville, NB on Thursday March 15, 2012 at the age of 94. Born in Great Village, NS, she was the daughter of the late Janet (Drysdale) and Thomas Ross Johnson. Dorothy graduated from Dalhousie University in 1939. She went on to teach school for more than ten years in Nova Scotia and Montreal. Dorothy was a great advocate of citizen participation and received many awards in recognition of her contribution to community life. She will be remembered in Pointe Claire for her involvement in the West Island Youth Justice Committee, John Rennie Home & School Association, Society for the Protection of Women and Children, and the Regional Council of Health and Services. She was the first female school commissioner in Pointe Claire and achieved a number of other ‘firsts’ as a woman.
Dorothy will be sadly missed by her children, Janet Fotheringham of Sackville, NB; Judy Linkletter (Tony Lewis) of Salmon Arm BC; Susan (John) Farmer of Hobart, Tasmania; seven grandchildren, Mary and Jennifer Fotheringham, Steven and Sarah Lewis, Steven and Sophie Farmer, Chris Linkletter and by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Dr. Alfred Linkletter in 1994 and three brothers and a sister. Cremation and visitation were held in Sackville March 23, 2012.
