At the Maplewood Manor, Alberton, on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, of Aletha Mary Matthews, wife of the late Stewart Matthews formerly of of Elmsdale age 99 years. Born in Elmsdale on Feb. 25, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Robert Bruce and Frances Jane (nee Webster) Mathews. Dear mother to Gertrude Hutt of Northport, and Vivian Carson of Riverview, N.B. Loving grandmother to Brian (Wendy) Hutt, Debbie (John) Searle, Patti (Blair) MacKenzie, Michael (Deb) Carson. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband Stewart, her granddaughter Lynn, and by son-in-laws Bill Hutt and Don Carsen. She was also predeceased by siblings: George, Winston, Sydney, Grace and Linda. Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton, from where a private family funeral service will be held on Monday at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Sue Paterson officiating. Interment to take place in the Elmsdale United Church Cemetery. No visiting hours by personal request.
