It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Billy MacLeod, age 69, beloved father, grandfather and brother on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at home.
Born in North Sydney, he was the son of Alma (Russell) MacLeod and the late Alexander MacLeod. Billy was employed on the Marine Atlantic vessels until his retirement. He was a member of the Fr. William Kiely Council Knights of Columbus and Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 19, North Sydney. He was a faithful member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney. Billy was a kind man, who enjoyed hunting and fishing and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Besides his mother Alma, he is survived by his daughter Tara MacLeod (Scott), Guelph, Ont. and his son, Kevin (Gail) MacLeod, Calmar, Alta. and their mother, Margaret MacLeod; his three grandchildren, Mariah, Sawyer and Mya; his sister, Mary MacLeod, Fredericton; three brothers, Malcolm (Marjorie), Burlington, Paul (Darlene), Sydney Mines, and Anthony ‘Tony’ (Arlene), Burlington and also nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Alexander MacLeod.
Visitation for Billy will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating.
