Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Friday, December 11, 2009, in the presence of his loving family, John Whelan, aged 86 years, of Cape Broyle. Predeceased by sons Joseph (1985) Adrian (2005), grandson Curtis (2003) and son-in-law Stephen O’Reilly (1991).
Left to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 57 years, Josephine, daughters Carmel O’Rielly (Stephen - deceased) Mobile, Mary Carew (Don), Bay Bulls, Arlene Croft (Leonard) Cape Broyle, Brenda Yard (Thomas), Ann Marie Carey (Joseph) Witless Bay, Rhonda Trainor (Doug) Port Kirwin, Colleen Alleyne (Fred), Scarborough, ON, and daughter-in-law Bonnie Whelan, Bay Bulls, sons: John (Joyce), Cape Broyle, Gerard (Betty Anne), Barrie, Ont., Kevin (Wanda), Bay Bulls. Michael (Patricia), Tors Cove, Dermot, Scarborough, Ont., 28 grandchildren, 6 great-grand children, also a large circle of family and friends. Resting at Ryan’s Funeral Home, Bay Bulls. Sunday and Monday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Flowers greatfully accepted or donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice. Funeral Mass to take place on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at 2 pm from Immaculate Conception Church Cape Broyle. Burial to take place at Our Lady of the Cape Cemetery, Cape Broyle.
