Norman Wood
WOOD, NORMAN - Norman Wood passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Bobby’s Hospice on Saturday, March 31, 2012. Born August 27, 1923 in Frankley, England, he was the son of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Turner) Wood. Norman proudly served in the Royal Air Force during WWII as a Navigator from 1943-1947. Norman was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 64. He was employed in the automobile industry in England prior to and after service in the RAF. He married his wife Jean at Portland United Church in Saint John, N.B on February 8, 1947. He then immigrated to Canada with his family in 1964, employed by NBTEL from April 1964 to December 1984, then served as a Business Consultant for the Federal Business Development Bank for a subsequent 10 years. Norman founded the Burwood Associates Ltd Business Consultants from 1991-1998. Norman also served as a board member for the Dr. V.A. Snow Centre for many years. Norman held a 32nd degree in the Masonic order (Scottish Rite), and was instrumental in bringing the order of DeMolay to Saint John. He also became a very gifted professional photographer after his retirement. He is survived by his loving wife Jean of 65 years; sons David (Doreen) of Riverview, N.B, Clive (Beth) of Long Point, N.B, Bruce (Carol) of Rothesay; six grandchildren Sherry, Linda, Andrea, Ashley, Meaghan, and Gregory; and three great Grandchildren Vanessa, Thomas, and Melanie.
Following cremation, visitation will be held from Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424), on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 from 6-8pm. A memorial service will be held at Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 11 am. The interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
