MILEY - Jim (December 20, 1920-July 10, 2007) Jim passed away on Tuesday July 10, 2007. He is survived by his wife Ellie (Butler), daughter Laurie (Jim Wright), son Jamie (Terry), grandchildren Ryan, Brady and Jennifer, and cherished nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Saskatoon, Jim attended school and university there and nurtured a large group of lifelong friends. He proudly served his country in the Second World War as bombadier/navigator on a Lancaster bomber, flying many combat missions. After the war, he and Ellie settled in Saskatoon where he began a successful career with Moore Corporation. He retired in 1986 as a member of Moore's Lifetime Achievement Club for his sales excellence. From the moment he met Ellie in 1940 and throughout their 67 years together, he loved her with all his heart. Without question his proudest achievement were his kids, Laurie and Jamie, and and his grandchildren, all of whom he loved, encouraged and supported. An avid, and we mean avid, sports fan, Jim could tell you what was happening on any given day, with any given sport. He especially could tell you (you did not have to ask!) who was performing, or not performing, with his Vancouver Canucks. Jim was a very good athlete and excelled at golf, with two holes-in-one to prove it, but always complained that his short game was "awful." He was renowned for his sense of humour, and we will remember that about him most. It will sustain us. A reception for immediate family and close friends will be held at Northview Golf Course (6857-168 Street, Surrey, BC), at 2:00 PM, Monday, July 16, 2007. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
