Edwin "Ted" Wayne Cheetham June 29, 1953 - July 19, 2007 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and friend. Ted Cheetham passed away on July 19, 2007 after he lost his battle with cancer. Ted is survived by his wife of 31 years, Marianne, and their children Rachelle (Darren) of Kamloops, Ray (Amber) of Kelowna, and grandchildren Amy and Zachary, as well as extended family Kim (Chris) Isford of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and their children Eric and Anais. He will be deeply missed by his parents Doris and John Cheetham of Kamloops, as well as his brother Ray Cheetham (Joyce Kopp) of Thompson, Manitoba, and sister Judy Libbrecht (Ron) of Kelowna, BC, mother-in-law Marie Libbrecht of The Pas, Manitoba, brothers-in-law Dennis Libbrecht (Judy), David Libbrecht (Debbie), Dean Libbrecht (Norma); sisters-in-law Twila Keith (Dale) and Alana Libbrecht (Quinton); in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by father-in-law Hubert Libbrecht, and sisters-in-law Flo Cheetham and Sue Cheetham. Ted was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, June 29, 1953, but lived in Gillam, Manitoba until 1954 when they moved to The Pas, Manitoba where he spent all of his childhood and early adulthood. It is there he met and married his soul mate, Marianne on October 16, 1976. Together they started a family, and moved to Kamloops in 1987. Following in his father's footsteps, Ted spent 35 years working for the CNR. Ted was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, and could be found riding his Harley throughout the summer with Marianne. Ted also enjoyed sitting by the campfire at the lake sharing laughs with his friends and family. Ted is best known for his laughter and sense of humour. You could hear his laugh before you even entered a room. He was always there for family and friends to lend a helping hand or shoulder to lean on. Children were a large part of who he was, and becoming a grandfather was a great honour for him. He always enjoyed teaching kids to skate or helping with their homework. He spent many winter months in arenas following Ray's hockey and Rachelle's ringette pursuits. The summer months were spent taking family holidays at the lake. Whether it was building a campfire, tubing behind a boat, or whitewater rafting, Dad was always up to our challenges. Ted was a great husband, father, and grandfather. Our loss will be deeply felt; he will be missed but not forgotten. He will forever be in our hearts. A Celebration of Ted's life will take place at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, August 3, 2007 at SouthWest Community Church, 700 Hugh Allan Drive, Kamloops. Donations in Ted's memory may be made to the Children's Make a Wish Foundation, #119 - 4240 Manor Street, Burnaby, BC V5G 1B2. Flowers gratefully declined. Don't cry for me, there are children with this disease. - Ted. Kamloops Funeral Home 554-2577 Condolences may be emailed to: sympathy@shawbiz.ca
