CHARLIE GILMAN SCULLION

CHARLIE GILMAN SCULLION

Born In: British Columbia, Canada

Passed in: British Columbia, Canada

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Charlie Gilman Scullion.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of fifty eight years, Nettie as well as his children Bob (Los Angeles), Mark (Calgary) and Nancy (Kamloops). He also leaves behind his grandchildren Tara Marchese (Johnny) and Matthew, two great grandsons Giuseppe and Rocco, a brother Durwood (Eve), nieces and nephews in Ottawa and Quebec as well as cousins in Syracuse, New York.

As a young man Charlie joined the Royal Canadian Navy serving in the Second World War and becoming a decorated war veteran. While in the Navy he began his boxing career and gained the title of Middle Weight Champion in 1944.

Charlie and the love of his life Nettie, shared their passion for travel, music, dancing, and nature, frequently venturing on bus trips and drives to local points of interest. When not travelling they enjoyed renovating homes.

He welcomed friends and family into his home and life offering assistance when needed, safe haven when required, and a place to share a cup of tea and good laughter upon their arrival. Strangers were greeted by Charlie with a warm hello and money for a cup of coffee or a meal. Friends and family were greeted with a handshake, a kiss on the cheek, a smile that could light up their souls, a lending ear, and fatherly wisdom when deemed necessary.

Having visited with friends and family Charlie's final words were always, "Good luck to you and may God bless."

The Funeral Service will take place at 2:30 P.M. on Friday, December 18, 2009 in the Fireside Room at the Kamloops Alliance Church, 233 Fortune Drive, with Pastor Doug Hooge officiating.
