Peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, and surrounded by his family of George Patrick Hughes of Shamrock, aged 88 years. Born on April 11, 1920, George was a son of the late Aeneas Hughes and the late Elizabeth Ann Murphy. Survived by his loving wife Rosalie (Quinn) Hughes. Dear father of Georgina (Ivan) Clow, Meadowbank, P.E.I.; Edwin (Lynn) of Shamrock; Pat (Carolyn) of Miscouche; Cathy (Bim) Larkin of Shamrock; Noreen (Brian) Symbarski of Lethbridge, Alberta; Joan of Fort McMurray, Alberta; Marie (Gerald) Caseley of Summerside; Darlene (Ron) Bailey of Kincardine, Ontario and Terry (Marissa) of London, Ont. Also survived by 24 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. George was predeceased by his infant son, John. Resting at Lawless Funeral Home, Kinkora. Visiting hours Thursday, Aug. 14, 2 to 4 p.m., 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Malachy's Church, Kinkora, on Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at 2 p.m. Interment in the parish cemetery.
