MACKAY - Murdoch
March 28, 1922 – December 10, 2009
Murdoch had a long distinguished career as an agrologist and was named a “fellow” of the Agricultural Institute of Canada in 1999. He was also entered into the Agricultural Hall of Fame in Saskatoon. He received many honours and awards for his contribution to many agricultural and horticultural organizations. Murdoch served three years in the RCAF, discharged in October 1945 with rank of flying officer. It was with his quiet dedication and personality that Murdoch will be remembered by his family and by those he knew and worked with. Murdoch is survived by his wife Muriel (Mummery) MacKay; his daughter Dr. Janice Braun; his son-in-law Dr. Andrew Braun; his grandchildren Samuel and Emily; his sister-in-law Phyl MacKay; his brother-in-law Raymond (Laurie) Mummery; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins in Scotland. He was predeceased by his mother and father John (Alexina Smith) MacKay; his brother Ian MacKay; his sister and brother-in-law Dolina and Clay Cummins; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Basil and Eva (Melville) Mummery and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Marjorie (Mummery) and Hugh Guthrie. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at St. David’s Anglican Church, 500 – 24th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with The Reverend Norbert Haukenfrers officiating. Interment will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to St. David’s Church and the Herb Bassett Home.
