It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Mary, on Sunday, April 8th at the Halifax Infirmary surrounded by her family.
She was the daughter of the late M.G. and Minnie (MacLeod) MacRitchie.
She was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, North River Bridge.
Mary is survived by her husband of 50 years, John G ‘Jack’ MacDonald; her son Glen at home; her daughters Cindy MacRae (Charles) of Baddeck and Janet Dauphney (Glenn) of Tarbot; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Dauphney, Whitecourt, Alberta, Amanda Dauphney, Windsor, Ontario; and one great granddaughter Autumn Dauphney of Bras d'Or.
Mary was a wonderful baker and cook and was well known for her homemade biscuits. She was employed for many years at the Gaelic College and worked her last twenty years at the Lobster Suppers in Baddeck. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends for her friendship and kindness.
Cremation has taken place and visitation will be at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 from 2 - 9 p.m. with funeral on Thursday at 11 a.m. from St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church with Rev. Murdock Mac Rae Officiating. Burial will be in Pine hill Cemetery, River Bennett.
Donations can be made to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Cape Breton Dialysis Unit or a charity of your choice.
Funeral under the direction of MacAskill Funeral Home.
