Passed on: December 14th, 2009

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dad Greg, who passed away peacefully at home on Monday, Dec. 14, 2009.
Born in Sydney Mines on July 12, 1917, he was the son of the late William and Alice (Scullen) Latwaitis.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception parish, Sydney Mines.
Dad lived a long fulfilling life based on hard work, healthy living and a strong commitment to family. He will be remembered for his kindness, gentleness, independence, work ethic and a strong will with a touch of stubbornness — traits we proudly carry forward.
Dad will be deeply missed by his family, Brian (Beth), Antigonish, Donna Maria (John C. MacLeod), Boston, Bill (Pam), Alberta, Paul, Alberta, Brenda (Marc), Ontario, Bruce, North Sydney, and Angela (Barry), England; as well as eight grandchildren and a new great-grandson. He is also survived by one remaining brother, Tony and sisters, Helen, Vivian, Camilla (Billy) and Yvonne.
Besides his parents, dad was predeceased by his loving wife, Mary DiPersio, who he will finally get to spend Christmas with after 14 years. He was also predeceased by seven brothers and nine sisters.
We would sincerely like to thank those involved in the wonderful care dad received at home over the past several months — bless you all.
At his request, there will be no visitation. A funeral mass to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, at 2 p.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Convent Street, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Thomas John officiating. A reception will follow at the Knights of Columbus hall, View Street, Sydney Mines from 3-7 p.m.
