Roberta (nee Stephenson) Hughes, 1948-2009, passed away peacefully Dec. 11, 2009, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in New Waterford, she was the loving wife of James (Jim) Hughes. Devoted mother to Melanie, Robert (Katie) and Julie. Also proud grandmother to Kai. She will be missed by her brothers and sister, Mickey (Claire), Leonard (Mary-Lee), Cathy (Kevin), George (Anne-Marie) and Gerard (Lise); as well as many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents, Bob and Julia Stephenson and her brother, Malcolm who are waiting for her with open arms.
Sincere thanks to the staff at the Jewish General Hospital who helped care for her.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Roberta’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
The funeral mass is at St. David’s Church, Pierrefonds, Que., Wednesday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m., followed by a reception at Rideau Funeral Home, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Que.
