
Gerald McCaie
McCAIE, GÉRALD - Gérald Joseph François McCaie, 93, of Villa Providence, Shediac and formerly of Murphy Avenue, Moncton, passed away at his residence on Wednesday April 11, 2012. Born on October 15, 1918 in Moncton, he was the son of the late Henri McCaie and the late Florence (Thibodeau) McCaie. Prior to his retirement at age 66, Gérald was a Parts Manager at Atlantic Mazda. He and his loving wife Émilia enjoyed spending time with their family, taking long drives in the country, playing cards, dancing and playing darts at several Golden Age Clubs. He also enjoyed reading and watching television, especially baseball. Gérald was a quiet family man who always had a smile for everyone he met, and he will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Émilia (Daigle); four children: Lucille Dunn (David) and Corinne Mallais (Gérard), both of Moncton, Louise McCaie (Kelly) of Saint John, NB, Lynne Léger (Michel) of Ottawa, ON, and one very special grandson, Zacharie Léger of Ottawa, ON; one brother, Lionel McCaie (late Cécilia) of Dieppe; two sisters: Adrienne Gauvin of Dieppe and Marguerite Ferguson of Toronto, ON, three brothers-in-law: Ronald Daigle (Annette), Réginald Daigle (Doreen) and Normand Daigle (Rita); four sisters-in-law: Vincence Bourgoin (Edmond), Doris Richard (Émile), Doris Daigle (late Emery) and Hermine (late Edmond), as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers: Réginald (late Simonne) and Rodéric McCaie, as well as two sisters: Florence and Camilia McCaie.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton on Wednesday, April 18 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Notre Dame de la Paix R.C. Church, 87 Murphy Avenue, Moncton on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary cemetery, Dieppe. In memory of Gérald, a contribution to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or to the Villa Providence Foundation (Shediac) would be appreciated.
