WALTER KNELLER BARKMAN 1915 - 2007 Walter passed away peacefully to be with his Lord on August 23, 2007 just 2 weeks short of his 92nd birthday. He will be lovingly remembered by his family: Dolores Barkman, Patricia (Mark) Emsheimer, Charles (Ginny) Barkman, David (Laura) Barkman, grandchildren Dwayne, Kimber-leigh (Brian), Edward (Silvia), Milton, Marcia, Bryan (Leah), Richard, Jennifer, Whitney, three great-grandchildren; also his sister Mary (Neil) Friesen. Predeceased in 2006 by Martha his wife of 66 1/2 years, son Ralph, two brothers and four sisters. Walter was born in Steinbach, Manitoba on September 11, 1915, worked in carpentry before taking on pastoral work in Alberta and Ontario, moving to Chase, B.C. as first pastor of the Chase Evangelical Free Church from 1965 to 1971. From 1971 until his retirement, he worked in Chase for School District #73. Walter was dedicated as a pastor and family man with a quiet sense of humour. He was an avid fisherman, amateur stargazer, enjoyed carving and gardening. In his later years, he picked up brush, acrylics and canvass, painting scores of pictures. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday August 31, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chase Community Hall. Schoenings Funeral Home in charge of cremation
