It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Arnold Devison, age 80, of Glace Bay on April 12, 2012 after a long and
courageous battle with lung disease. Arnold passed away peacefully surrounded by his
loving family. A life long resident of Glace Bay, Arnold was the son of Alexander and
Beatrice Sabina (Gracie) Devison. Arnold was a devoted and loving husband, father,
grandfather and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family. Arnold was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish. He was employed with DEVCO for 35 years; working at #20 Colliery, #26 Colliery, Phalen Colliery and Prince Colliery until he retired. Arnold and wife Josie were avid campers and enjoyed spending their summers at Englishtown Ridge Campground with great friends over the past 19 years. Arnold was known for his generous spirit, sense of humor, wonderful cooking and willingness to lend a helping hand. Arnold also had a talent for carpentry and could build, repair or renovate almost anything. Arnold especially loved spending time with his grandsons who he adored and who taught him how to use an iPad. They will miss 'poppy' immensely. Arnold is predeceased by his parents, brothers D'Arcy (Doris) Devison, Sydney; Lawrence (Gail)
Devison, Ontario; sisters Theresa Howley, Ontario and Margaret MacDonald, Glace
Bay. Arnold will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 46 years, Josie, daughter
Arnelda, son-in-law Jonathan, grandsons Riley and Connor and many nieces and
nephews. In honouring Arnold's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A funeral mass celebrating Arnold's life will take place on April 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Parish, Glace Bay with Father Daniel Boudreau officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the IWK Children's Hospital or The War Amps.
