Williams Joan Renee, (nee Thomas) passed away at Overlander Extended Care, in Kamloops, BC on August 24, 2007. She will be missed and lovingly remembered by her family; husband Roger; devoted daughters, Jan (Jim) and Bev (Gary), her cherished grandchildren; Brianne, Kirsten, Brita, and Braden as well as many more relatives and friends. Joan was predeceased by daughter Diane and brother Bob. Born in Sardis, Joan spent her early teen years at Rounds and later in Nanaimo. She graduated from the Royal Columbian School of Nursing. Joan and Roger married in Nanaimo in 1951 and lived in Vernon, Kamloops and New Westminster until 2005 when, to be closer to family they returned to the interior. Joan will be remembered by the many friends she made when volunteering at the old Vernon and Queens Avenue United Churches, as well as the numerous junior hockey players who were billeted in her New Westminster home over the years. The family wishes to extend their appreciation and thanks to the many Health Care providers for their care, comfort and kindness that Joan had received over the last few years. A Memorial Service will be held at the Queens Ave, United Church in New Westminster on Saturday, October 20th, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. John Cashore officiating. In lieu of floral tributes, donations in Joan's memory may be made to either the Alzheimer Society of BC., P.O. Box 277, Stn Main, Kamloops, V2C 5K6 or The Queens Ave. Community Lunch Program, 529 Queens Ave., New Westminster, BC, V3L 1K2 or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
