WOODWARD On Saturday, September 22, 2007 Mary Woodward a resident of Kamloops passed away at Kamloops Seniors Village at the age of 82 years. Mary was born on August 2, 1925 in Somerset, England. She graduated from the school of Social Work at Glasgow University in 1945. That same year she met her future husband Frank Woodward of the RCAF in Aberdeen and in 1947 they were married at Little Fort, B.C. Mary worked at Tranquille Sanatorium from 1948 - 1950, after which time the boys Dave, Mike and John were born. The family moved to Ashcroft in 1955 where they ran a car dealership and garage for the next ten years. In 1965, Mary returned to social work as head of a new department in Merritt. In the years following she worked at Royal Inland - Kamloops, St. Paul's - Vancouver, Surrey Memorial and Burnaby General. Mary spent a total of 14 years in Costa Rica before her health started to deteriorate. She successfully battled breast cancer but was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1997. Mary is survived by her sons David (Geraldine) of Grande Prairie, Alberta, Mike (Dorothy) and John (Debbie) both of Kamloops; her grandchildren Julie, Amy, Kurt, Bryan, Kevin, Ben, Adam and Tim; her sister Jean (George) Brown and her brother Stuart (Patricia) Hay of England and many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her parents Annie and David Hay. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Langford, the staff at Kamloops Seniors Village and her dear friends Dorothy and Valeen. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the Schoening Funeral Chapel with Canon Jack Phelps officiating. In lieu of flowers donations to the Parkinson's Society, 600 - 890 W. Pender Street, Vancouver, B.C. V6C 1J9 in memory of Mary would be appreciated.
