THOMAS, RICHARD "DICK" EVERETT - Richard "Dick" Everett Thomas, loving husband of Shirley Ann (Langille) Thomas, passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, following a brief illness, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by his family. Born 1937 in Fredericton, NB he was the son of the late Frederick and Eva (Grant) Thomas. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother Roland Thomas; sisters Marlene McLenaghan, Jean Bursey and Patricia Hawkes. Richard worked as a Service Manager for Coca-Cola for many years. He coached minor hockey, and was an avid hockey fan of the Sea Dogs and the Flames. He was a member of the Vocational School Alumni, enjoyed watching M*A*S*H and spending time with his family at the family cottage on the Belleisle. Besides his loving wife Shirley of 53 years, he is survived by his sons Richard Thomas (Susan) of Saint John and Jeffrey Thomas of Edmonton, AB; daughter Darlene Smith (Mark) of Saint John; cherished grandchildren Amy Thomas, Travis Thomas (Miranda), Andrew Smith and Jason Smith (Erin); great granddaughters Evelyn Smith and Eloise Thomas-McCollum; sisters Marjorie Mizener of Dundas, ON and Wendy Chisholm of Halifax; several nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Friday, April 20, 2012 at 2 p.m. The family will receive visitors from 1 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Ocean View Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Richard made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Joshua Group, Saint John Vocational School/ Harbour View High School Alumni would be appreciated by the family.
