Christine Turner

The death of Christine M. Turner, age 89, of Port Elgin, occurred peacefully at the Westford Nursing Home, Port Elgin on Thursday, April 12, 2012.
Born in Port Elgin, she was a daughter of the late Patrick and Henrietta (Forest) Legere.
She was a member of St. Clement's Church, and the Westmorland Botsford Senior Citizens Club. She worked for many years at the Port Elgin Woolen Mill. She loved to knit, and made sure that all her friends and family got hand knitted slippers. She enjoyed drives through the country, and visits with her family.
She is survived by brother Edmund of Burlingon, ON, special nephews Michael (Debbie) Jones of Sackville and their children Angela, Christina and Kerri; Sherman Niles of Moncton; special niece Diane Jones of Port Elgin as well as four generations of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth "Tommy" Turner; brothers Arsene and Harvey; sisters Odell Noonan, Louise Niles, and Albina Legere.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 3 West Main St., Port Elgin, N.B. (506-538-2241), where visiting hours took place on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass was celebrated at the St. Clement's Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at 11 a.m., Father Allison Carroll officiating. Burial took place in the Parish Cemetery immediately following the service.
