PICTOU/EUREKA – Ellen “Nellie” Monica Fraser, age 94, of Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou, formerly of Eureka and Riverton, passed way December 17th, 2009 in Shiretown Nursing Home.
Born March 23rd, 1915 in Avondale, Newfoundland, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Ellen (Cahill) Benning.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church. Nellie was employed as a PCW at Riverview Adult Residential Centre and Valley View Villa for a number of years.
Surviving are her son, Harold (Betty) Fraser, Sylvester; daughter-in-law, Gail Fraser, Armstrong, BC; grandson, Darren (Nicki) Fraser, Calgary, AB.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, John A. Fraser; son, Donald; step-daughter, Mary Baxter; brothers, Richard and Clement; sister, Mary.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral service at the request of the deceased. A graveside committal service will be held in Lorne Cemetery at a later date.
