Ernest Murphy
MURPHY, ERNEST - 1936-2012 - On the morning of April 22, 2012, Ernie Murphy answered God’s call to go Home. Born on January 28, 1936, in Saint John, NB to George and Gertrude (O’Neil) Murphy. After Graduating from St. Vincent’s Boy School, Ernest went onto study at Dalhousie University graduating with a BSc in Pharmacy. He began his pharmaceutical career at Browns Drug Store later moving to Moncton and Shopper’s Drug Mart. He retired after 45 years. Throughout his life, Ernie was very active within his church. He served as Sunday School teacher and Superintendant, Deacon, Trustee, Boy Scout leader, Christian Service Brigade leader, choir member, bell choir member, and a Young at Heart leader. Ernie loved his Lord and Saviour and his family. We do not grieve for him, only for ourselves and the loss that we feel. However, we rejoice that Dad is now resting safely in the arms of Jesus and is now at peace – that peace which he longed for these past months. Ernie is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Gweneth (Clarke) Murphy, son John, daughter Debbie (Arthur) Lam, and his four precious grandchildren, Lindsey, Emilie, Jake and Rachel.
