September 8th 1939 – April 22 2012 (72). Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital in the presence of his loving wife and daughters. Predeceased by his mother and father Leo and Elizabeth Power, sisters: Gertie Norris, Edie (Infant) and his brothers: Gerard and Frankie (Infant), mother and father-in-law Leonard and Annie O’Driscoll, and brothers-in-law: Gordon and Aloysius. Leaving to mourn his devoted wife of 50 years Marie and their five children: Darlene (Tommy Sullivan), Craig (Karen), Leo (Donna), Denise (Boyd White), Rhonda (Chris Melvin); his 16 grandchildren: Matthew, Jamie & Kellie Sullivan, Amanda Hall (Dan), Lynsey & Jessica Power, Sarah, Timothy, Travis, Denver, Logan & Ryan Power, Adam & Scott White, Miranda (Anthony) & Kerri-Lynn Melvin and his precious great-grandson whom he called “his little Boy” Carson. Also leaving to mourn his sisters: Agnes Melvin (Phonse deceased), Bertha and Aubrey Halfyard, Irene and Steve Coady and brother Derm (Carmel deceased). Also leaving to mourn sisters and brothers-in-law living in Bay Bulls, Witless Bay, Tors Cove, Markham, Ontario, and Closter, New Jersey. Special friends: Jerome and Agnes Power, John Dunphy and John Power (Tors Cove). Leaving behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbours. A special thank you to Drs. Hillman and Reddy. To all the nurses of 7 West, a special thank you for the exceptional care and attention that was given to Dad, your kindness and patience will never be forgotten, he adored each and every one of you. Thank you to Father Slattery who came to the hospital in the wee hours to say a final prayer over Dad and also to Sister Marion who visited Dad every morning. Resting at Ryan’s Funeral Home, Bay Bulls on Tuesday, April 24th & Wednesday, April 25th, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial to take place from Sacred Heart RC Church, Tors Cove on Thursday, April 26th at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. No flowers by request, a donation can be made to the Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer’s Association.
