CATERINA MARCHIO The family of Caterina Marchio (Durante) wish to announce the peaceful passing of their mother and grandmother on Sunday, October 21, 2007. Survived by her children Ross (Linda) Marchio and Lena (Ed) Whitmore; grandchildren Tanya, Ashley, Landon and Erin; sister Rosa Rizzo, brother-in-law Salvatore (Ada) Marchio; as well as sisters-in-law Giovanna Spagnolo and Caterina Canino of Albi, Catanzaro, Italy. Caterina leaves many cousins, nephews and nieces both in Italy and in Canada. Caterina was predeceased by her loving husband Pasquale, her parents Alfonso and Modesta Durante, brother Joe Durante, niece Marlene Durante and her brother-in-law Carmen Rizzo. Caterina immigrated to Kamloops with Pasquale from their home town of Albi, Catanzaro, Italy in April 1957 to begin their wonderful life in our beautiful country of Canada. Upon their arrival to this new and exciting country the Corea family on Lorne Street took them under their wings and the Lorne Street area became a vibrant and bustling "Little Italy". We can only imagine the fun and good times all those Italian families had in those earlier years.
