BURGESS, Rhoda Mae – The Mira Long Term Care Facility, Truro, passed away peacefully, with her sister Mary at her side, on Friday afternoon, December 18, 2009, at the home. Born in Old Barns, she was a daughter of Ellen (Archibald) Burgess, Wynn Park Villa, and the late Cyrus Burgess. Rhoda had a strong faith in God that comforted her throughout her life as well as the great hymns she enjoyed singing so much. She loved everything about Christmas and also loved to dance. Along with her mother, Rhoda is survived by her sisters, Lorena (Fred) Creelman, Mary (Walter) McNutt, all of Bible Hill; Doreen (Neil) MacMaster, Porters Lake; brothers, Glendon Burgess, Ontario; Dale Burgess, Truro; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Douglas and David Burgess. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Barry Wheeler and the exceptional staff at The Mira for their love and care to Rhoda and her family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Rhoda’s family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, December 22, 2009 and where the funeral service will be held 2 pm Wednesday, December 23, 2009, Reverend Brian DeLong officiating. Reception will follow in the funeral home. Spring interment will be held in Christ Anglican Church Cemetery. Family flowers only.
