It is with great sadness and regret that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Lexie, on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at her residence on Plummer Avenue. At the time of her passing, Lexie was in the comfort and care of her loving family.
Born in New Waterford, Oct. 25, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Dan J. MacNeil and Katherine (MacNeil) MacDonald.
Lexie was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Lexie was a member of the former Mt. Carmel parish. She was always devoted and faithful to her religion. She enjoyed a good game of cards, darts and family gatherings.
Lexie was a former resident of Miner Avenue, New Waterford. She was also a member of the Pensioners Club. But mostly, Lexie will be remembered as a lady who enjoyed life to the fullest.
She is survived by two sons, Jack (Donna), Lower Sackville, Kevin (Katherine), St. John’s, N.L.; two daughters, Marilyn (Tom Hines), New Waterford and Colleen (Marco Drouin), Beaver Bank, N.S. Lexie is survived by seven grandchildren, Lisa Craig, Ontario, Adam Graham, Lower Sackville, Suzanne MacMullin, Calgary, Scott and Kellie Graham, St. John’s, N.L., Graham and Joel Hodder, Beaver Bank; two great-grandsons, Luke MacMullin, Calgary, and Jack Craig, Belleville, Ont. Lexie is survived by a stepsister, Ella MacDonald, Detroit, Mich. and a stepbrother, Collie MacDonald, New Waterford.
Besides her parents, Lexie was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Pius Graham who passed away in 2003, two brothers, Joe and Jeff MacNeil, two sisters, Mary Kennedy, Ann MacIntyre, a brother in infancy, her stepfather, Jack MacDonald and four stepbrothers, Curly, Allan, Chubby, Sandy MacDonald.
Visitation for Lexie will be held Monday evening from 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. The funeral mass is Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mt. Carmel Avenue, New Waterford. All are welcome to join the family for a reception at the Carmel Centre. Interment will be in the springtime in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy for Lexie; donations in her memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Cancer Society.
