With heavy hearts we announce the death of Donald Carleton Roderick Smith on Dec. 19, 2009, at Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck.
Born in West Tarbot, he was the son of the late John Angus and Alice (MacRae) Smith.
Donald was a self-employed lobster fisherman and carpenter.
He is survived by his wife, Kaye (MacLeod); daughter, Sylvia (Ray), Riverview, N.B.; and his pride and joy, granddaughters, Brianna and Brittany Asaph, Riverview, N.B.; sisters, Betty Gimler, Muriel Morrison and Murdena Stephen; brothers, Raymond (Angie), Andrew (Gerry), Jackie (Marie); nieces and nephews that he loved dearly, cousins and friends.
Donald was predeceased by his son, Wesley and his nephew, Kelly Smith.
Donald was a member of St. Ann’s Bay United Church.
Visitation will take place at St. Ann’s Bay United Church, Wednesday, Dec. 23 from 12-2 p.m. with a funeral service to follow with Diane Kempt and Rev. Sean Hancock officiating. Burial in Goose Cove Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Society or charity of one’s choice.
