CHILDS, DANIEL JOSEPH - It is with great sadness that the family of Daniel J. Childs announces his unexpected passing on Sunday, April 29, 2012. Born in 1962 at Saint John, NB., he was the son of the late William and Geraldine (Anningson) Childs and loving husband of Wanda (McLaughlin) Childs. Danny was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. His family was his center and he and his childhood sweetheart Wanda, instilled beautiful family values within their children. Danny worked for A. J. Mallette & Sons for more than 20 years as a painter. He was no stranger to hard work and took great pride in his craftsmanship. He was an avid woodworker at home in his woodshop and he loved country music. He will be loved and missed a great deal. In addition to his loving wife, Danny is survived by his children Jessica Childs of St. Stephen, NB., and Christopher Childs of Vancouver, BC.; his brothers Corey (Patty) and Bret (Lynn) both of Saint John; sister Karalee Hopey (Peter) of Saint John; his grandson Kai, the “apple of his eye”; niece Jillian Childs, nephews Evan and Ethan Hopey and his lifelong best friend, John Gormley.
Under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB., (646-2424) Following cremation, visitation will take place Wednesday May 2nd, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 3rd, 2012 from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel at 1pm followed by the committal in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetry.
