Kathryn Ayer
Kathryn M. Ayer, 94, wife of the late Albert S. Ayer, of Basking Ridge, formerly of Westfield, Somerville, and North Plainfield died quietly on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012 at Fellowship Village, Basking Ridge, with her niece, K. Lynne Moore (and husband Gordon) of Hellertown, PA. at her side.
Mrs. Ayer was born in Stellarton, Nova Scotia, Canada, to the late Alonzo and Grace (MacLennan) Murray on August 26, 1917.
She was a graduate of St. Michael's Hospital Nursing School in Toronto, Canada, and received her post graduate degree from Women's Hospital, New York, NY, where she served as Head Nurse of Obs., Assist. Supervisor of OR, and later Charge Nurse of OR for Lago Oil & Trans., Aruba, Netherland Antilles. Mrs. Ayer also worked at Raritan Valley Hospital and John E. Runnells Hospital as a Charge Nurse.
Kathryn's siblings, Elbert Murray, RCAF (died in WWII, 1943) and Jeanne Decker of Bridgewater (died 2006) predeceased her.
Besides her niece, K. Lynne Moore and her husband Gordon, she leaves behind a nephew, Fosdick Ayer (wife Nancy).
Mrs. Ayer was a member of the First Baptist Church of Somerville and a member of the Women's Missionary Society.
At Kathryn’s request a graveside service will be held May 4, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Brookside Cemetery, New Glasgow with Rev. Charles McPherson presiding.
Donations in memory of Kathryn may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton.
Arrangements are entrusted to the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel, Stellarton.
