It is with great sadness that the family of the late Onie McCarthy announce her passing on Thursday, May 3rd, 2012 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in her 80th year. She will be sadly missed by her loving children: Danny (Theresa) of Sydney, NS and Angela of Deer Lake. Grandchildren: Katie (Glenn) Richardson of St. John's, Krista (Stephen) Gillard of Glace Bay, NS and Fraser (Lacey) McInnis of Kelona, BC, two great-grandchildren: Lexy and Libby. Son-in-law Alex McInnis of St. John's. Brother Alvin (Netta) McKay of Toronto. Her good friends Wednesday night card club, Joan, Phyliss, Gussie, Gwen, Ruth & Jen and her Saturday night card club, The Schwartzs, The Northcotts & The Bakers and a large circle of nieces, nephews relatives and friends. Onie was predeceased by her parents Issacc and Lucy, husband Charlie, daughter Donna, brothers: William, Wilfred and James, sisters: Edna, Edith, Melba and Rosalie. Onie was a very active member ot the CWL, Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #3 and the Girl Guides of Canada. Visitation will take place from Parsons Funeral Home & Chapel, 63 Northmain Street, Deer Lake on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Sunday from the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at the family plot on Wights Road.
