SMITH, Granville Kingsford - 81, of West River Road, Lyons Brook, passed away May 5, 2012 in the Palliative Care Unit of Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in West Cape PEI, he was a son of the late Guy & Mabel (Silliker) Smith. Granville was a truck driver for many years and loved to travel, when home he enjoyed working on the yard and cutting the grass. He is survived by his Ex-wife but special partner in life Esther Barkhouse, Lyons Brook; sons Evan, Grand Falls, NB; Owen, Moncton NB; daughters, Gwen Smith, Riverview, NB; Debbie (Dan) MacKenzie, Bayfield, NB. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Granville is also survived by a brother; Lloyd (Joyce) Smith; sisters, Ruth (George) Gamble; Ella (Jimmy) Heighton; Ina Smith; Many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers; Raymond, Stanley, Elmer and Harry. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Tuesday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will take place 2:00 PM Wednesday from McLaren Funeral Home Chapel, Pictou, with Rev. Vincent Hanley officiating. Burial will be in Seaview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care, Diabetes Association or a charity of choice.
