BATTEN Margaret Elaine, the lady with a beautiful smile, affectionately known as Lainie, Mom, Granny, and Great Granny, passed away at Overlander Residential Care in Kamloops on Tuesday, December 11, 2007. She is survived by her son Kirk (Kelly) Batten and grandson Jared of Georgetown, Ontario; she also leaves her Kamloops family, daughter Susan Wilson (Bruce Hamilton), granddaughter Marcia Wilson (Klaus Mey) and great grandchildren Alex and Kate Mey; grandson Rob Wilson (Rachel) and great grandchildren Jacob and Charlie. Lainie was born in Walhachin, BC to Marjory and Roy Kirk on September 21, 1923. She was raised in Lavington, BC and married Robert "Bob" Batten on July 24, 1945. They lived in Vernon for many years before moving to Richmond. In November of 1992, they moved to Kamloops and lived for a time at the Shores and later moved to Overlander. The family would like to thank all Overlander staff members, past and present, for the wonderful care Lainie received while she resided there. There will be no formal service at Lainie's request and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Overlander Residential Care, Recreation Department, 953 Southill, Kamloops, BC V2B 7Z9.
