HANSEN, SANDRA - With sadness the family announces the passing of Sandra J. Hansen, loving wife of Allan Hansen, which occurred on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1944 in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late S. Lawrence and Hazel (Day) Seeds. Sandra was a generous, loving and determined soul who gave an enormous amount of time and energy to her community, and who gave her heart and home to those in need. On top of raising four children, Sandra singlehandedly put on legendary Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners, nurtured a spectacular garden and crafted beautiful ceramics. Her greatest pride and joy was, however, her children and, above all else, her five grandchildren whose smiling faces brought much happiness during the last, often difficult, few years of her life. Besides her husband Allan, she is survived by her sons Lawrence of Toronto, ON, Randy (Pilar) of Guelph, ON, Christopher (Angela) of Sussex, NB and Jeffrey of Saint John; grandchildren Simon, Joshua, Matthew, Evan and Sofia.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). A graveside service will be held at Fernhill Cemetery on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 2 p.m. The family would appreciate donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society. www.fundyfuneralhome.com
