Wayne Smith, 64, of New Victoria, passed away Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
Born in New Glasgow, he was the son of Elliott and Odette (Hamilton) Smith.
Wayne was a member of Calvin United Church, New Waterford. He held various occupations in his life time, some of which included, welding, working for Peel Express Trucking, private trucking firms and owning his own catering service. Wayne loved baseball and was actively involved in karate. His life took a major turn in 1972 while driving his 18-wheeler truck. He was hit side on by another truck, rendering him a parapelagic. Although the accident changed his life drastically, it could not hamper his kind and caring nature which he held throughout his life.
Besides his parents, Wayne is survived by his two daughters, Rhonda (Mrs. Craig Nichols), Debbie (Mrs. Jack Brick); and one son, Dwayne (Michelle), all in Ontario. Also surviving is his brother, Cordell (Barbara), New Victoria; two nieces; one nephew and a special grandnephew, Tyler.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. Graveside prayers at 2 p.m. on Monday in Union Grove Cemetery, Scotchtown. Rev. Duncan Roach officiating.
