Sackville, N.B. – It is with sadness that the family of Doris I. Estabrooks announce her passing on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at her home, following a brief illness. Doris was 86 years of age.
Born on February 1, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Alice (Sears) Anderson.
Doris loved being with her family and enjoyed spending time at her cottage as well as playing cards, knitting and visiting and helping family and friends.
Doris will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Gail (Jim) McGill and Sandra Estabrooks, both of Sackville, N.B.; grandson, Eddie McGill of Moncton, N.B.; brother-in-law, Vernon Estabrooks of Sackville, N.B.; and many nieces and nephews. Doris was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Estabrooks; her sisters, Kathleen Estabrooks, Elizabeth Rynne, Elaine Kaye and Jennie Anderson; and by her brothers, Laird, William, Walter, Hallet, Stanley, James and Albert.
Arrangements were entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B.(364-8188).
Visiting hours took place on Sunday, December 20, 2009 from 1-1:30 p.m. at which time a memorial service was then held with Rev. Vernon Vickruck officiating.
A time of fellowship was shared following the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the spring in the Midgic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Doris may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
