Arthur Day
The Day family is missing their father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Arthur Alexander Day, who passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of December 22, 2009. Art was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Jessie (nee Marshall) Day, his loving wife of 49 years, Peggy (nee Lightfoot), his daughter Bonnie Brears, and his siblings Myrtle, Vivian, Jack, Neil, Pearl, and Daniel. Left to miss him are his children, Bev and Brian Thompson, Gerry and Terry Yemen, Barry and Joanne Day, and Bob and Kate Day; son-in-law Trent Brears; and Lois Loreth, Art's companion of seven years; as well as countless grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends across the province from Prince Albert to Carlyle and White Bear Lake. Art was born in 1925 in Raymore, SK, and lived a full life with friends and family. He was a dedicated railway man from 1943-1988, where he worked as an operator, agent, and dispatcher with CNRail. His skills at telegraphy were renown. His passions in life were golfing, curling, and his friends from here, there, and everywhere. Art and Peggy had eleven years of retirement together at White Bear Lake before she died-it was their second home. The Golf Course at White Bear Lake was a special place for Art, and his First Nations friends referred to him as "The Golf Man". A self taught musician, he played both the piano and accordion. When asked, Art played for many special occasions, considering each one an honor. Our Dad was an Irishman through and through, and we will celebrate his life in grand style on Wednesday December 30, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Martin's United Church, 2617 Clarence Avenue South in Saskatoon.
