It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loved one, surrounded by his family at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009.
Born in Tarbot, June 22, 1927, ND was the son of late Neil Carmichael and Rhodena (Morrison) Carmichael.
He is survived by his loving wife, Anna; sister, Madeleine Matheson; several nieces, nephews and many friends and neighbours.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Duncan, Archie, Johnny, sisters, Sally, Mary and Jessie.
ND was a person of strong faith. He was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church North River Bridge and served as an Elder from 1986 to 2000. ND will be missed for his quiet nature and wit. His enjoyment in life was working with his back hoe and truck. Over the years he worked for the Mariana pulp company, Department of Transportation (snowplow operator), Maritime Tel &Tel and Aliant relied on his services for many years. He also had his own back hoe and trucking business and lent a helping hand to neighbours and friends.
Visitation and funeral will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, North River Bridge on Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, starting at 11 a.m. with visitation, lunch at 12 p.m. and funeral service at 2 p.m., Rev. Glen Matheson and Rev. Cameron Brett officiating, with burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, River Bennett.
Donations to be made to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church or Victoria County Memorial Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the MacAskill Funeral Home, Baddeck.
